About the BMW M4 Competition
The BMW M4 Competition is BMW's high-performance coupé: a 3.0 twin-turbo petrol engine, rear-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, with fuel use of about 10.5 L per 100 km. It has four seats and room for one large suitcase, so it suits two people with light luggage. Drivers must be aged 25 or older with a licence held for at least 3 years.
Use it for a special weekend: the winding road over the Gombori Pass to Telavi in Kakheti, the E60 highway west towards Kutaisi, or an evening along the Batumi seafront. It is approved for paved roads only, and its low nose and firm suspension prefer smooth main roads to village lanes and mountain tracks. Tip: speed cameras are common on Georgia's main highways and fines are linked to the number plate, so keep to the limits; if you want the sky above you instead, the Ford Mustang Convertible is the relaxed alternative.

Where you can drive it
Approved for all paved roads in Georgia: Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Kakheti and the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi in summer. Not suitable for gravel mountain tracks; for Svaneti or Kazbegi in winter choose an AWD car.
Driver requirements
- The driver must be at least 25 years old and have held a licence for 3 years or more.
- Passport or ID card and a driving licence in Latin script (otherwise an International Driving Permit).
- Return the car with the same fuel level it had at pickup.

Yes in the warm months: the roads to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and Mestia are paved. In winter, when the Jvari Pass and Gudauri can be under snow, choose an AWD or 4x4 car instead. The BMW M4 Competition is not made for gravel valleys such as Truso or Juta.

The M4 Competition is the more muscular, aggressive car and costs less per day. The Porsche 911 Carrera is the purer sports car experience, with its engine behind the rear axle and a famous name. Both are approved for paved roads only.
Is the rear-wheel-drive BMW M4 hard to drive on wet roads?
It needs respect rather than special skill. With strong turbo power going to the rear wheels, the M4 can lose grip if you accelerate hard on wet asphalt, painted road markings or in tight bends. Keep the stability control switched on, use the throttle gently when the road is wet and leave extra distance. In winter, when snow is possible, a car with all-wheel drive such as the BMW 7 Series is the better choice.
