Who we are
The rental agreement is made between carsrent.ge ("we") and the person who books and signs the rental contract ("you"). The vehicle, its documents, keys and accessories remain our property. You may not sublet the car or hand it to anyone who is not named on the contract.
Drivers and documents
- The main driver must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid driving licence for at least 1 year.
- At pickup each driver shows a valid passport or national ID card and an original driving licence.
- A licence that is not written in Latin letters must be accompanied by an International Driving Permit.
- Only drivers named on the contract may drive. If an unlisted person drives, the insurance does not apply and you are liable for all damage.
Booking, payment and deposit
- A booking request is free and does not oblige you to pay. The booking is confirmed when we send you a confirmation by email or WhatsApp.
- You pay the full rental at pickup in cash (GEL, USD or EUR) or by bank card. Foreign currency is converted at the rate of the day.
- Most cars have no security deposit. 4x4 off-road and premium cars require a refundable deposit of 300 GEL at pickup, returned when the car comes back in the same condition.
- Prices are per rental day of 24 hours. A return up to one hour late is free; after that a further day is charged.
Cancellation and changes
You can cancel or change your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before pickup. As nothing is paid in advance, no refund is due. Please tell us as early as possible if your plans change.
Handover and return
- At pickup we inspect the car together and photograph any existing damage. You receive a copy of the photos.
- Fuel policy: same to same. Return the car with the fuel level it had at pickup. Missing fuel is charged at the pump price plus a 25 GEL refuelling fee.
- Return the car clean inside. Heavy dirt that requires professional cleaning is charged 60 GEL.
- Smoking and vaping are not allowed in the car. Breaking this rule costs 200 GEL for cleaning.
Insurance and excess
- Every rental includes third party liability insurance as required by Georgian law and a collision damage waiver (CDW) covering collision and theft with an excess of up to 300 USD.
- Full insurance (zero excess) is optional and also covers glass, mirrors and tyres.
- Insurance does not cover damage caused by driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, by an unlisted driver, on prohibited roads, or by deliberate or grossly negligent behaviour.
- After any accident or damage call the police on 112 and inform us immediately. Without a police report the insurance does not apply.
Where you may drive
- All cars: paved roads throughout Georgia, including the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi and the road to Mestia outside the snow season.
- AWD and 4x4 cars: mountain roads in winter conditions (Gudauri, Kazbegi, Mestia) and the road from Mestia to Ushguli.
- 4x4 off-road cars: gravel tracks such as the Truso and Juta valleys. Tusheti (Abano Pass) only with our written permission.
- Never: Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region (South Ossetia).
- Border crossings: Armenia only with our border permit, ordered in advance. Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia are not allowed.
Fines and tolls
Traffic and parking fines issued during the rental are your responsibility. Fines from speed cameras arrive after the rental and are forwarded to you with the official notice. Georgian highways have no tolls.
Breakdown and assistance
If the car has a technical problem, stop safely and contact us by phone or WhatsApp. Do not arrange repairs yourself without our agreement. If the breakdown is not your fault, we repair or replace the car.
Applicable law
These terms and the rental contract are governed by the laws of Georgia. The signed rental contract at pickup prevails over this summary.
