About the Mercedes-Benz Vito

The Mercedes-Benz Vito, sold as the Vito Tourer in Europe and the Metris in North America, is a nine-seat passenger van with a 2.1 diesel engine, rear-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. It carries eight passengers plus the driver, takes five large suitcases and uses about 8.0 L per 100 km. A normal category B licence covers it, so you do not need a bus licence to drive it.

It is the van for a group of up to nine on paved roads: collecting everyone at Tbilisi airport, a day among the wine villages of Kakheti, the summer drive to Kazbegi, or the long run to Batumi with everyone's luggage on board. As a rear-wheel-drive van approved for paved roads, it should stay off gravel tracks and out of winter mountain snow. Compare it with our other minivans and 7 seat cars.

Tip: for a group of more than nine, the 19 seat Mercedes-Benz Sprinter comes with our driver, so nobody in the group needs a bus licence.

Mercedes-Benz Vito: questions and answers

How much does it cost to rent a Mercedes-Benz Vito in Tbilisi?

The Mercedes-Benz Vito costs 300 GEL a day for 1 to 3 days, 285 GEL a day for 4 to 7 days, 270 GEL for 8 to 14 days and 255 GEL for 15 days or more. Unlimited mileage, basic insurance (CDW) and delivery to Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport are included, and you pay at pickup.

Can I drive the Mercedes-Benz Vito to Kazbegi, Gudauri or Svaneti?

Yes in the warm months: the roads to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and Mestia are paved. In winter, when the Jvari Pass and Gudauri can be under snow, choose an AWD or 4x4 car instead. The Mercedes-Benz Vito is not made for gravel valleys such as Truso or Juta.

How many people and suitcases fit in the Mercedes-Benz Vito?

The Mercedes-Benz Vito has 9 seats and 4 doors. With all seats in use the boot takes about 5 large suitcases plus small bags. For bigger groups see our minivans and 7 seat cars.

Is there a deposit for the Mercedes-Benz Vito?

No. The Mercedes-Benz Vito has no security deposit and nothing is blocked on your card. You pay the rental at pickup, in cash (GEL, USD, EUR) or by card.

How much fuel does the Mercedes-Benz Vito use?

About 8 litres per 100 km with its 2.1 diesel engine. The fuel policy is same to same: you receive the car with a full tank and return it full.

Where can I pick up the Mercedes-Benz Vito?

At Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport, where we meet you in the arrivals hall, or at your hotel in Tbilisi or Batumi. Delivery is free; returning the car in another city has a fixed one-way fee shown in the booking summary.

Do I need a special licence to drive the 9 seat Mercedes Vito?

No. A standard category B car licence covers vehicles with up to eight passenger seats plus the driver, which is exactly what the Vito is. The usual rules apply: the driver must be at least 21 years old and show a licence in Latin letters, or an International Driving Permit with it. If nobody in the group wants to drive, book the Vito with our driver for 150 GEL a day, for up to 8 hours.

Mercedes Vito, Hyundai H-1 or V-Class: which van suits my group?

Take the Hyundai H-1 for nine people with the most luggage at the lowest daily rate: it takes seven large suitcases. The Vito also seats nine, with room for five suitcases, and it uses less fuel and drives more like a car. The Mercedes-Benz V-Class seats seven in an executive cabin for business or wedding guests. For more than nine people, the 19 seat Sprinter comes with our driver.
