About the Subaru Crosstrek

The Subaru Crosstrek, sold as the Subaru XV in Europe and much of Asia, is a compact crossover with a 2.0 petrol engine, an automatic gearbox and Subaru's symmetrical all-wheel drive, which powers all four wheels all the time. It seats five, takes two large suitcases plus small bags and uses about 8.1 L per 100 km, the lowest figure among our petrol SUVs. It also sits higher off the road than most cars of its size.

It is a good partner for a couple on a mountain trip: the Kazbegi day trip over the Jvari Pass, a winter weekend in Gudauri, or a summer loop from Kutaisi airport up to Mestia and Ushguli. The full-time all-wheel drive gives steady grip on snow and wet hairpins. Gravel valleys such as Truso and Juta still need a 4x4 with low range.

Tip: the Subaru Forester has the same all-wheel-drive system with a bigger boot, so take it if you are three or four with full-size suitcases.

Subaru Crosstrek: questions and answers

How much does it cost to rent a Subaru Crosstrek in Tbilisi?

The Subaru Crosstrek costs 120 GEL a day for 1 to 3 days, 114 GEL a day for 4 to 7 days, 108 GEL for 8 to 14 days and 102 GEL for 15 days or more. Unlimited mileage, basic insurance (CDW) and delivery to Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport are included, and you pay at pickup.

Can I drive the Subaru Crosstrek to Kazbegi, Gudauri or Svaneti?

Yes. With all-wheel drive the Subaru Crosstrek suits the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi and Gudauri, the road to Mestia and the road from Mestia to Ushguli, in summer and in winter. Rough gravel valleys such as Truso and Juta need a 4x4.

How many people and suitcases fit in the Subaru Crosstrek?

The Subaru Crosstrek has 5 seats and 5 doors. With all seats in use the boot takes about 2 large suitcases plus small bags. For bigger groups see our minivans and 7 seat cars.

Is there a deposit for the Subaru Crosstrek?

No. The Subaru Crosstrek has no security deposit and nothing is blocked on your card. You pay the rental at pickup, in cash (GEL, USD, EUR) or by card.

How much fuel does the Subaru Crosstrek use?

About 8.1 litres per 100 km with its 2.0 petrol engine. The fuel policy is same to same: you receive the car with a full tank and return it full.

Where can I pick up the Subaru Crosstrek?

At Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport, where we meet you in the arrivals hall, or at your hotel in Tbilisi or Batumi. Delivery is free; returning the car in another city has a fixed one-way fee shown in the booking summary.

Subaru Crosstrek or Subaru Forester: which Subaru should I rent?

Choose the Crosstrek for two people travelling light, and the Subaru Forester for three or four with full-size luggage. Both have Subaru's full-time all-wheel drive and are approved for mountain routes such as Kazbegi, Gudauri and Mestia. The Crosstrek costs a little less per day and uses less fuel, while the Forester has a 2.5 engine, more cabin space and room for three large suitcases instead of two.

Is the Subaru Crosstrek good on snow for Gudauri and Kazbegi in winter?

Yes. Full-time all-wheel drive and good ground clearance for a compact car make it one of the steadier small cars on a snowy road. It helps you pull away and climb, but it does not shorten braking distances, so drive gently on packed snow, brake early before hairpins and check that the Jvari Pass is open before you set off. Snow chains can be added on request; write it in the booking comments.
