About the Hyundai Sonata
The Hyundai Sonata is a size up from a compact: a wider cabin, more rear legroom and a 2.4 petrol engine with an automatic gearbox. Four adults sit comfortably, and the boot takes three large suitcases. Fuel use is about 8.0 L per 100 km, the trade-off for the extra space and a relaxed ride.
It shines on the longest paved journeys: from Batumi airport to Tbilisi, a beach stay between Kobuleti and Batumi, or a week linking the capital, Kutaisi and the sea. A summer drive up to Kazbegi is fine as well. Because it is a front-wheel-drive sedan, it stays off gravel and is not the car for snowy mountain passes.
Tip: if fuel cost matters more than cabin width, the Toyota Camry gives you midsize comfort with hybrid economy at about 5.0 L per 100 km.

Hyundai Sonata: questions and answers
How much does it cost to rent a Hyundai Sonata in Tbilisi?
The Hyundai Sonata costs 80 GEL a day for 1 to 3 days, 76 GEL a day for 4 to 7 days, 72 GEL for 8 to 14 days and 68 GEL for 15 days or more. Unlimited mileage, basic insurance (CDW) and delivery to Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport are included, and you pay at pickup.
Can I drive the Hyundai Sonata to Kazbegi, Gudauri or Svaneti?
Yes in the warm months: the roads to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and Mestia are paved. In winter, when the Jvari Pass and Gudauri can be under snow, choose an AWD or 4x4 car instead. The Hyundai Sonata is not made for gravel valleys such as Truso or Juta.
How many people and suitcases fit in the Hyundai Sonata?
The Hyundai Sonata has 5 seats and 4 doors. With all seats in use the boot takes about 3 large suitcases plus small bags. For bigger groups see our minivans and 7 seat cars.
Is there a deposit for the Hyundai Sonata?
No. The Hyundai Sonata has no security deposit and nothing is blocked on your card. You pay the rental at pickup, in cash (GEL, USD, EUR) or by card.
How much fuel does the Hyundai Sonata use?
About 8 litres per 100 km with its 2.4 petrol engine. The fuel policy is same to same: you receive the car with a full tank and return it full.
Where can I pick up the Hyundai Sonata?
At Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport, where we meet you in the arrivals hall, or at your hotel in Tbilisi or Batumi. Delivery is free; returning the car in another city has a fixed one-way fee shown in the booking summary.
Hyundai Sonata or Toyota Camry: which midsize sedan is better to rent?
Choose the Toyota Camry if fuel cost matters most, and the Sonata if you prefer a wide cabin with conventional petrol power. Both seat five, take three large suitcases and suit long paved drives such as Tbilisi to Batumi. The Camry is a hybrid and uses noticeably less fuel, while the Sonata's 2.4 engine gives a smooth, traditional drive and costs less per day.
Can I take the Hyundai Sonata to Armenia for a trip to Yerevan?
Yes, with a border permit that costs 120 GEL per rental. The permit covers the power of attorney and insurance papers the border asks for, and we need at least two days' notice to prepare it. The Sonata's wide cabin makes it a comfortable car for the long drive. Turkey, Azerbaijan and Russia are not allowed, and Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region are always excluded.
