About the Lexus NX
The Lexus NX is a compact premium SUV from Toyota's luxury brand: a 2.0 turbo petrol engine, an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It seats five, takes two large suitcases and uses about 9.8 L per 100 km. The cabin is quiet and carefully finished, which makes long days on Georgian roads more relaxing. It follows our standard rental rules, so the driver must be aged 21 or older.
The NX suits couples and small families on a road trip: up the Georgian Military Highway to Kazbegi, a winter weekend in Gudauri, then west to Kutaisi and on to the coast at Batumi. It is approved for paved mountain roads in summer and in winter, so the snowy climb over the Jvari Pass is within its range. Gravel valleys such as Truso and Juta need a 4x4 with low range; see our 4x4 cars.
Tip: the boot takes two large suitcases; for four people with full luggage and much lower fuel use, the Toyota RAV4 hybrid is the practical alternative.

It is worth it if you value a quieter, more refined cabin and the feel of a premium brand, and the difference in daily price is small. Both have all-wheel drive and are approved for Kazbegi and Gudauri in any season. The Toyota RAV4 hybrid is the more practical car, though: it takes four large suitcases against two and uses far less fuel, about 5.8 L per 100 km against 9.8 L.
Is the Lexus NX a good choice for winter in Georgia?
Yes. Its all-wheel drive gives steady grip on wet and snowy roads in Tbilisi and on the paved mountain road to Gudauri and Kazbegi, where front-wheel-drive cars struggle. Drive gently, leave extra distance and check that the Jvari Pass is open on the day, since it can close for hours after heavy snow. Snow chains can be added on request: just write it in the booking comments.
