About the Hyundai Elantra
The Hyundai Elantra is a compact sedan with a 2.0 petrol engine and an automatic gearbox. It carries five people, takes three large suitcases in the trunk and uses about 7.0 L per 100 km. Think of it as the middle ground: more space than a hatchback, and easier to park than a midsize sedan.
A good fit is a trip west: Tbilisi to Kutaisi on the E60, then the Prometheus Cave and the Martvili Canyon, all reachable on paved roads. From Kutaisi you can carry on to Batumi and the Black Sea. Keep it on tarmac, though. Gravel tracks are off limits, and for Svaneti or Kazbegi in winter you will want all-wheel drive.
Tip: if you land at Kutaisi airport, you can see the caves and canyons first and drive east to Tbilisi at the end of the trip.

Hyundai Elantra: questions and answers
How much does it cost to rent a Hyundai Elantra in Tbilisi?
The Hyundai Elantra costs 80 GEL a day for 1 to 3 days, 76 GEL a day for 4 to 7 days, 72 GEL for 8 to 14 days and 68 GEL for 15 days or more. Unlimited mileage, basic insurance (CDW) and delivery to Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport are included, and you pay at pickup.
Can I drive the Hyundai Elantra to Kazbegi, Gudauri or Svaneti?
Yes in the warm months: the roads to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) and Mestia are paved. In winter, when the Jvari Pass and Gudauri can be under snow, choose an AWD or 4x4 car instead. The Hyundai Elantra is not made for gravel valleys such as Truso or Juta.
How many people and suitcases fit in the Hyundai Elantra?
The Hyundai Elantra has 5 seats and 4 doors. With all seats in use the boot takes about 3 large suitcases plus small bags. For bigger groups see our minivans and 7 seat cars.
Is there a deposit for the Hyundai Elantra?
No. The Hyundai Elantra has no security deposit and nothing is blocked on your card. You pay the rental at pickup, in cash (GEL, USD, EUR) or by card.
How much fuel does the Hyundai Elantra use?
About 7 litres per 100 km with its 2.0 petrol engine. The fuel policy is same to same: you receive the car with a full tank and return it full.
Where can I pick up the Hyundai Elantra?
At Tbilisi, Kutaisi or Batumi airport, where we meet you in the arrivals hall, or at your hotel in Tbilisi or Batumi. Delivery is free; returning the car in another city has a fixed one-way fee shown in the booking summary.
Hyundai Elantra or Sonata: is the bigger sedan worth it?
Only if four adults will share long drives; for two or three people the Elantra is enough. Both take three large suitcases, but the Hyundai Sonata has a wider cabin and more rear legroom for a relaxed ride on routes such as Tbilisi to Batumi. The Elantra is easier to park in Tbilisi and Kutaisi and uses a little less fuel.
Can I drive the Hyundai Elantra on village roads to wineries and guesthouses?
Yes on paved village roads, but not on rough tracks. The Elantra is a normal sedan approved for paved roads, which covers most of Kakheti, Imereti and the coast. Some guesthouses and family wineries sit at the end of an unpaved lane, so ask your host about the access road before you go. If it is gravel or badly rutted, park where the asphalt ends or ask us which car fits your plan.
